From the beginning, Off Axis has been built around a simple conviction:
some conversations don’t resolve quickly—and they shouldn’t.

Not because clarity is unimportant, but because the most honest questions we carry are rarely solved in a single sitting. They resolve slowly. They examine places shaped by history and habits. And when they’re wrestled to the ground too quickly, they tend to produce answers that feel clean but leave us unchanged. The older I get, the more tragic this feels.

The people I’ve invited into this space understand that.

They aren’t here to clean things up or move us toward safe conclusions. They’re here because they’re willing to stay with complexity—especially where faith, desire, shame, and formation intersect. That kind of honesty doesn’t rush toward absolute certainty. It listens longer. It calls out what’s uncomfortable. It trusts that God is at work even when resolution remains just out of reach. This may even be when he is the most at work.

Off Axis exists to make room for that kind of attention. Conversations here are meant to be lived with, not just listened to. They’re meant to last awhile—carried into prayer, into ordinary decisions, into the solitary places where formation actually takes place. In the year I spent planning this effort, this has always been the intent: not to offer quick answers, but to build a posture of faithful wrestling over time.
