This morning, I had the privilege of speaking at Men’s Round Table, surrounded by relationships that have shaped me in more ways than I could possibly explain. It’s one of those environments where men still sit together early in the morning and attempt to talk honestly about their lives, their failures, their marriages, their fears, and God.
Not theoretically. Personally.
Above is an audio version of that teaching. It carries more of the cadence of a room than a polished article because that’s how it was delivered this morning — in real time, with real men, wrestling with real fear.
We talked about Abraham. About how fear attaches itself to our lives far more than we like to admit. We talked about the possibility that some of the men God used most powerfully in scripture were not fearless men, but men who kept walking with fear attached.
And maybe more importantly, we talked about formation. The slow kind. The kind that takes decades instead of weeks. May calling attention to this fact mark this space as long as it exists.
I think this one will land somewhere deep for a lot of people because it certainly did for me while I was preparing for and teaching it.
The slides from the morning are attached because many of the ideas were built visually as we moved through the conversation. But more than anything, I’d encourage you to simply listen in on this teaching when you have the space. I think it will be worth your time.
As always, thank you for being here. Reach out. Conversation over isolation.
V/r,
Ben
